Well, looks like the song about the first monkey in space is going to have either three different solos, or a solo with three different styles. Find out next week!
Two things: yes, that's really the title, and no, I'm not planning on doing more concept albums for Music About Nothing any time soon. I just couldn't help myself with this one. I started writing it part-way through the week in which the original poll was posted (although, truthfully, some of the music was written more than two years ago). It was recorded in what I like to call a "Friday-Saturday Don't-Have-A-Girlfriend-And-Didn't-Leave-The-House-Today-Super-Funtime Session with Onion Rings". (Editor's note: There were no onion rings present at the recording session.)
NOTE: THIS ALBUM IS INTENDED TO BE HEARD CONSECUTIVELY. DOING OTHERWISE IS A VIOLATION OF MUSIC ABOUT NOTHING'S CREATIVE LICENSE.
I'd like to point out, before anyone who has seen "Space Chimps" jumps all over me, that the first monkey in space was not, in fact, Ham. It was Albert II. Ham was the first monkey in outer space, which is different.
Yes, this album is a metaphor. But it's like a mad-lib metaphor. You get to put in your own meaning. It means what you want it to mean.
And don't forget the requirements of guitar solo types. I haven't failed you.
The album has already received rave reviews, like these:
"The best concept album ever produced by Music About Nothing." - Music About Nothing
"Pretty good." - Music About Nothing
"Holds a candle to that construction-themed rock opera by that British prog-rock band." - Music About Nothing
"Chiasmusical! A twenty minute monkey-themed rocktastrophe! And that's a good thing." - Music About Nothing
"[Albert II: The Voyage Home] is the most important rock & roll album ever made, an unsurpassed adventure in concept, sound, songwriting, cover art and studio technology by the greatest rock & roll group of all time." - Rolling Stone
And so, without further ado:
